As part of my final-year dissertation at University, I am researching people’s experiences of anti-Semitism and am trying to reach out to as many people as possible. If you identify as Jewish and live in the London Borough of Barnet I would be grateful if you click on the link below to take my online survey, which will take less than 5 minutes to complete.

Please be in touch if you have any questions or would like to speak to me personally about my research.

Thank you very much,

Hannah Mendall

My name is Hannah Mendall and I have just completed my second-year studying Geography (BA) at University of Cambridge.

This summer, I am carrying out research for my undergraduate dissertation. I am researching how the experience of contemporary anti-Semitism impacts the identity of British Jews living in the London Borough of Barnet. I am interested in my how the experience of anti-Semitism drives individual and communal responses. My research links to the broader issues of rising anti-Semitism and religious hate crime in the UK, and the contemporary politics in the UK Labour Party.

I wondered whether it would be possible to speak to or potentially interview Jewish members of the Hendon Labour Party/Campaign as part of my research? I am available throughout July and most of August, and would be very keen on speaking to members and getting involved in events.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

Given you recommend the Action Fraud initiative [here on this page http://www.hendonlabour.org.uk/dismore_echoes_charity_commission_s_support_of_london_wide_safer_giving_initiative] I thought I’d reach out to suggest one of our resources which may also be worth including on your website.

70+ Scams and How to Avoid Them – http://compari.tech/avoid-scams

I’m confident this list is the most comprehensive A-Z of common scams, schemes and fraud.

If you think this will be useful, could you add a link to this on your website?

Please let me know if I can do anything to help.

Thanks,

Sophie

Dear colleague,

JERRY WEBERINDEPENDENT CANDIDATE FOR NEC

Check out my flyer on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/jerry.weber.121

My name is Jerry Weber and I am the chair of Warwick & Leamington CLP. I was also the agent for Matt Western at General Election in June where we pulled off a remarkable victory and overturned a Tory majority of 6,500.

I am standing as an unaligned and independent candidate for one of the CLP places on the NEC.

I am standing because I am very concerned about the continuing rift and discord within the Party. It really is time we put our differences behind us and started to build a party to offer the electorate a real alternative. The Party need reforming. I will be committed to open processes and transparency in dealing with difficult issues such as suspensions and expulsion from the Party.

I hope that you will be holding a nomination meeting and that you will support me and give an independent voice a chance to be on the ballot paper. Although I am a member of the Co-operative Party, I am not aligned to any other group. I believe that CLP representatives on the NEC need to be independent and not dependent on groups such as Momentum and Progress.

The NEC is our key body that directs the future of the Party. If elected, I will be a grassroots member of the NEC.

Please find my flyer attached.

I look forward to your support.

Best wishes

Jerry

I need help/suggestion been trying to get my daughter a school place at Goldbeaters (for past 3 years) we are still under waiting list.

My son started full time from this year at Goldbeaters and my daughter is at Colindale Primary school. It will be physically impossible for my wife to pick them both at same time from different school as I work full time. There is a place available at Goldbeaters but Council will not allocate this as there are two new pupil who just moved in the area is given higher priority. We have talk to council so many time but nothing is happening, please help us.

A winner-takes-all election can only divide us;

Proportional Representation would help bring people together

For the vast majority of the world’s developed democracies, a General Election is the time at which Parliament is brought up to date with the views of the public. Parties win seats in proportion to the share of the votes they receive – so Parliament comes to reflect the balance of opinion held by the people.

However, in the United Kingdom this is not the case. There is no reason to expect our Parliament to better reflect the electorate the day after a General Election than it did the day before. The reason for this difference is that, while most of our peers use proportional voting systems, the UK is one of the last developed nations still to use First Past the Post.

Instead of producing a Parliament that reflects the people, First Past the Post grossly distorts the decisions made by the voters. In the last election many millions voted for parties that now have little or no representation in Parliament, while other parties took a share of seats far greater than their share of the votes.

It has been said that this General Election will bring about “unity” after the divisive EU referendum campaign, but it is hard to imagine how a winner-takes-all election will bring people together when so many voices will not be heard. With the country deeply divided and more politically diverse than ever, we need a Parliament that genuinely reflects the views of all voters. The way to achieve this is the way most countries achieve it: a form of Proportional Representation.

Research over many decades shows that countries with proportional voting systems tend to perform better on a wide range of economic and social issues. They also have greater democratic participation and performance; the nations that are independently assessed as being the most democratic all use Proportional Representation.

Every opinion poll shows that the overwhelming majority want seats to match votes*; the move to Proportional Representation is inevitable. By making this the last General Election held under our broken voting system, you will stand on the right side of history and create a democracy fit for the 21st Century.

To bring people together and for the sake of our democracy we call on you to make votes matter by adopting a proportional voting system.

How to get 16 million non-voters to step up and take responsibility -

Is this link on your website, social media pages etc together with a message along the lines of -

Register to vote against the tories if you know anyone who uses the NHS, or who is elderly, or disabled, or in need of social care, or on a low income etc

Register to vote for the tories if you prefer gangs of animal abusers chasing wildlife with packs of dogs, tax cuts for the rich, tax avoidance by big business etc etc

Share this link on all your social media pages -

https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Register by 22 May to vote in the General Election on 8 June.

Have you sent it to all your ( targeted as likely potential labour voter ) constituents, party members, branches, charities, trade unions, student unions, further education colleges etc etc ? and encouraged them to share it further to reach all those not registered to vote ?

Please copy this to all regional offices and marginal constituencies.

What plans are there to combine efforts with the other parties so only one opposition candidate stands against the tories ?

Allowing Mr Corbyn to leave the country with the impression that a Labour government would not take military action to prevent genocide etc, or an attack on an ally, means there will be no Labour government.

Fox etc hunting is animal abuse, a vote for the conservatives is a vote to terrorise wildlife.

Population increase, house-building and the resultant pollution and global warming must be minimised, both in the UK and worldwide.

Ensure to stress ( and nationally ) what you will do for SMEs, rather than worry them with labour issues.

Make sure to point out that new taxes etc will be targeted at “people” like philip green and andrew lloyd webber.

The tories are thrashing the word “strong” to death – hijack it to neutralise it and throw it back at them – eg

“vote Labour for a strong government”

“Britain is stronger with Labour”

“vote Labour to get a stronger negotiating position for brexit”
